Principal Message

Nate Lange`s profile pictureWelcome to Mount Pleasant Middle School! My name is Nathan Lange, and it is an honor to serve the community, parents, students, and staff as the Mount Pleasant Middle School building principal.

I think it’s worth mentioning that I graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 2006 with an English Degree in Secondary Education. In 2012, I decided to go back to school to complete my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. I graduated from Arkansas State University in the spring of 2014.

I began working for the Mount Pleasant Community School District during the 2006-07 school year as a long-term substitute. The following year I was hired as a High School English Teacher and served in this position for seven years. After serving as a teacher, the district provided me with an opportunity to become the Secondary Instructional Coach, and I filled that role from 2014 to 2016.

In 2016 the school district gave me yet again another opportunity to fulfill a new role, the Middle School Building Principal, and I couldn’t be happier. I am proud of the fact that my entire educational career, from student-teaching, substitute teacher,  teacher, instructional coach and finally the Middle School Building Principal, has all taken place within the Mount Pleasant Community School District. Mount Pleasant has helped shape me into the educator that I am today. For that, I am thankful.

Mount Pleasant Middle School currently serves approximately 450 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. It is our belief that our students can “achieve without limits” and our goal is to create lifelong learners. In order to meet the needs of all of our students, the staff at the middle school strives to be good stewards of our structures, policies, curricular and co-curricular programs, and most importantly, our opportunity to work with the students in this community. We like to refer to this opportunity as our “calling.” This is what we were designed to do: help students reach their full potential. If I can help you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me at lange@mtpcsd.org or at our school phone number at 319-385-7730.

As stated before, it has been an honor to serve and to continue to serve the district and community. I have really enjoyed my time in the Mount Pleasant community, and I look forward to partnering with our community, parents, students, and our dedicated staff.
