Principal Message
Hello Mount Pleasant Middle School students, parents and community members!
My name is Mark Adams, and I am honored to be serving as your 6-8 principal. I genuinely believe that the middle school years are the most crucial in the development of academic habits and character and a time when students face the most challenges. I am truly humbled to be able to apply my experiences and knowledge to help students navigate this important time in their lives. My highest priority will be to ensure that students receive the highest quality education in a safe and positive environment.
My career in public education began in 2004 in West Burlington where I taught English/Language Arts for 12 years before becoming the 6-12 Instructional Coach. In my time as a teacher, I have taught all grades from 6 to 12, coached individual speech and chess club.
My family and I moved to Mount Pleasant in 2018 when I became the 7-12 Principal for Van Buren County where I proudly served until accepting this position. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Iowa in 1999 and hold a Masters in Educational Leadership from Drake University and a Masters in English and Language from Western Illinois University. I also just finished the Superintendent’s certification from University of Northern Iowa.
I live right here in Mount Pleasant with my wife Sarah and two sons, Henry and Elliott. When I’m not working, I love playing acoustic guitar, reading all kinds of books and being with my family.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via email [email protected] or by phone at 319-385-7730.
